Solar PV Module Basics knowledge

Solar photovoltaic modules are composed of interconnected solar cells, mainly composed of eight parts: tempered glass, EVA, cells, TPT, silica gel, welding tape, junction box and aluminum alloy.


(1) Tempered glass is used to support the structure of photovoltaic modules, enhance the bearing and load of photovoltaic modules, and has the functions of light transmission, anti-reflection and light transmission, water blocking, gas blocking and anti-corrosion.


(2) The copolymer of EVA ethylene and vinyl acetate is a kind of hot melt adhesive. It is used to encapsulate the cells, prevent the external environment from affecting the electrical properties of the cells, enhance the light transmittance of the photovoltaic modules, and bond the cells, tempered glass, and backplanes together, with a certain bonding strength. The electrical performance output of the component has a gain effect


(3) A solar cell is a device that directly converts light energy into electrical energy. It is made of semiconductor material. The electron-hole pair is excited by the irradiation of sunlight, and the electron-hole pair is separated by using the electrostatic field of the P-N junction barrier region.


(4) TPT is used as a back protection packaging material, which is commonly divided into T gate, TPE and PET, and polyethylene structure. It is used to enhance the aging resistance and corrosion resistance of photovoltaic modules, and prolong the service life of photovoltaic modules; the white backplane scatters the light incident inside the photovoltaic modules, which improves the light absorption efficiency of photovoltaic modules. The high infrared emissivity can also reduce the operating temperature of photovoltaic modules; at the same time, improve the insulation performance of photovoltaic modules.


(5) Silica gel is used for bonding and sealing laminated glass photovoltaic modules, bonding junction boxes and backplanes, and enhancing the UV resistance of photovoltaic modules.


(6) The welding strip is cut and straightened by oxygen-free copper, and all outer surfaces are coated with hot-dip coating. The tin-coated tape is used to lead out the electrodes of solar cells in the production of solar photovoltaic modules and connect the cells. It is required to have high welding operability, firmness and flexibility.


(7) The electrical connection device of the photovoltaic module in the junction box plays the role of sealing and waterproofing the lead wire of the photovoltaic module, and protects the safety of the photovoltaic module system during operation.


(8) The aluminum alloy frame installed by the aluminum alloy glass epitaxy can protect the edge of the glass, strengthen the sealing performance of the photovoltaic module and improve the overall mechanical strength of the photovoltaic module, which is convenient for the installation and transportation of the photovoltaic module.
